Olympic Stadium Munich

Munich
A fantastic stadium covered by a gigantic spiderweb - like acrylic glass roof. This famous stadium was constructed to host the Summer Olympic games in 1972. The roof structure is one of the most famous designs of the 20th century. Gunther Behnishc designed the structure.

After the Olympics were held here in 1972, Bayern Munich adopted the stadium as their home grounds. They were followed by TSV Munich, who also used the grounds in the 1990s. In 2005 both teams were moved out to Allianz Arena from Olympic Stadium.

The stadium has hosted so loads of events to date, including the 2006 Tour de Ski competition! Snow was created in the stadium to recreate the snow you would view if you were up in the Alps. The final of the 1974 World Cup was held here at Olympic Stadium, along with 2002 FIFA World Cup qualifying match between England and Germany.

A must view for all soccer fans, it’s located north of the city in Olympiapark - a visit here is highly recommended.
