Neues Rathaus (New Town Hall) stands in the centre of Munich in Marienplatz.

A very popular landmark, the Neues Rathaus was built during the architectural revival that occurred in Germany in the late 19th century. The building is in a neo-gothic style.
Looking at the Neues Rathaus from the outside you can view the detailed stone enhancement. The main tower is 85m high, where visitors can take a lift right to the top to view this spectacular piece of architecture.
Today you will find a large tourist information centre on the ground floor. On the first floor there is a large balcony where concerts are held during Weihnachtsmarkt, various festivals or soccer championships that occur in the city.
The carillon, which is better known as the famous Glockenspiel, displays a lot of German history in its features. For example in the lower part of the carillon it shows a famous dance of Munich, the “Schafflertanz”.
