Hofgarten

Hofgarten is located just off Odeonsplat. Its the perfect resting spot if you fancy taking a break from your site seeing – it’s a well known fast that Munich as loads of fantastic attractions!

These gardens feature a number of arcades, which are surrounded by wall paintings, really tall rows of hedges that run throughout the park. Hofgarten features fantastic displays of specifically designed flowers that suit the gardens surroundings.

There are four fountains with benches surrounding each one. There is a pavilion in the centre of the park to honour the goddess Diana, where a path leads from each arcade to the pavilion.

The Renaissance garden of the park was damaged during World War II , but in 1948 was redesigned keeping with the original plans, no matter where you sit in the park the views you can see so many architectural sites surrounding from the two-tiered Orange Church in Odeonsplatz to the Pink Castle.

There are a number of cafes that open up in the milder months in Hofgarten, including a famous “Kafer” café that attracts Boris Becker and a number of other celebrities to the amazing grounds.

Classical or Jazz music is played on certain evenings in the pavilion originally designed by Heinrich Schon in 1615. This park is a must while visiting the city of Munich.
