Englisher Garten

Munich
Englisher Garten (English Garden) is a huge public park in Munich. The park is even bigger than New York’s Central Park! Englisher Garten stretches from the city centre to the northeastern city outskirts of Munich.

An American named Benjamin Thompson founded the gardens back in 1789 and set about creating an area where all Bavarians could meet. The type of landscaping the is informal, popular from the mid 18th to early 19th century in the United Kingdom, hence the name today.

Englisher Garten is renowned for its emphasis on the people. On the numerous routes throughout the gardens you will view parents enjoying the company of their children, sun worshipers, dog walkers, or students from the nearby university buried in a book.

If you wish you can stop off at the famous Japenese tea house where you can attend a Japanese tea ceremony. Maybe you would prefer something different on your travels through the gardens, then make sure you stop off at the Chinese tower where you'll find one of the famous beer gardens in Munich located in Englisher Garten also.
