Munich Residenz Palace situated in the centre of Munich, without a doubt is one of the most elaborate and beautiful places to visit in all of Germany. From its incredible collection of art, furniture and plasterwork, from the ceiling frescos and ornamentation – this truly is a spectacular palace!

The Residenz Palace was originally a small moated castle, built in 1385, the Palace continually expanded through the centuries where the Wittelsbach rulers used it until 1918 as their own home and also seat of government. The Residenz was also damage during the bombings of World War II but luckily many of the masterpieces inside were moved to safety before the bombings.

Features throughout the palace include, Antiquarium (Hall of Antiquities), the largest secular Renaissance hall north of the Alps, Ornate Chapel, the Steinzimmer (Stone Rooms) and the Trierzimmer ( Trier Rooms) , the magnificent Rococo Rooms and the Ornate rooms. The viewings are just endless in this palace.

On display also are special collections such as silver, ecclesiastical vestments and porcelain from the 18th and 19th centuries and East Asia. There are tours arranged each morning that you can enjoy also at your own pace, taking in the splendors of this spectacular palace museum.
