Mullersches Volksbad is Munich’s first public bath-house, built and designed by engineer Karl Muller. The bath houses first opened in 1901 and is today one of the few remaining bath-installations still standing.
You can still, to this day, enjoy an elegant bath in the installations of the Mullersches Volksbad. You also have the option of enjoying a historic steam bath. It's claimed this jewel of a bathhouse is the most beautiful Art Nouveau one in Europe.
Mullersches Volkbad is richly decorated with Art Nouveau and stands on the banks of the River Isar below the Gasteig Kulturzentrum.
The building itself is a mixture of a number of styles. From Roman thematic elements, as well as South German Baroque components on the exterior, once you enter you are greeting with magnificent Art Noveau décor throughout.
Even though Mullersches Volksbad always remained in good condition, it was renovated recently to now include a gentleman’s pool, a ladies pool, showers, baths, sauna and steam baths.
The baths are opened seven days a week. You can reach the Mullersches Volksbad via the S-Bahn to Isartor or Rosenheimer Platz from any of the main S-Bahn stops throughout Munich.
